Pencil Portrait Gifts

Hello, my name is Darla Dixon. I would like to sincerely thank you for visiting my website today. I create pencil portrait gifts based on photographs my clients send me.

Because you order the portrait to be drawn from a photo, you do not need to ask your portrait subject to sit still for a long time for me to draw them in an art studio. So there's no need to worry about a fidgety toddler or hyperactive poodle!

Everything I do is custom made and hand drawn. A custom pencil portrait drawn from a photo is so personalized and unique. One of my customers said that my portraits are a special "gift of the heart." Another said that my portraits have a "Mother's touch." A large part of my business is drawing portraits of babies and children. Please see the girls and boys portraits I have created.

If you need a portrait of a group of people or pets, but you don't have a photo of them all together, I am able to create a combined portrait based on your separate photographs. This is good option when you can't get everyone together for a photo sitting. My Featured Portrait page shows how I do this, and the changes that I often need to make to get it to work out well. I can usually tell if it will work when I see the photographs you would like used for art reference. Your regular candid photographs make wonderful portraits - Sometimes people feel they need to have expensive studio photographs for me to create a quality pencil portrait gift, but I think some of the nicest portraits I've done have been from regular snapshot photographs showing the child's more natural expressions.

If you have a photo that you like, but you don't like what's in the background, it's okay! I don't need to draw the background, unless you specifically ask.

I also do portraits of adults (either Memorial Portraits or executive portraits) and families. Memorial portraits of someone who has died are often requested as a way to honor a loved one who has passed away. I create memorial portraits of stillborn babies also. Having a portrait to display is often a help in healing. These portraits are often emotionally difficult for me to create, but I am thankful to God for the talent He has given me, and I'm grateful to be of service.

You may want to request a portrait of a house, either as a housewarming gift or just to remember the old home place. I have done portraits of business buildings and offices. I can also hand-letter names and dates onto the home or people portraits. The lettering can be very simple and graceful or larger and more elaborate...whatever fits your needs.
